So I put an offer in on a house I want to buy. The house is one year old and it’s being sold due to a messy divorce settlement and yes, I am taking advantage of that fact to get a good price. However I have been thinking how hard it would be to share property and finances especially as I have never had to do it and then be caught up in a situation like divorce and division of assets. As my mother used to say ‘what’s yours is mine and what’s mine's me own.’ Mine has always been my own. I could share lots of things - love, bodies, and thoughts – but money and assets? Oh hard. I’d rather give money away freely then have to fight someone you love(d) over it. So, I applaud those who have the fortitude to stick it out together financially.
