The dreaded 'I love you' thing...

So, I was reading this magazine article on why you should never ever, ever be the first person in a relationship to say “I love you.” Why? Well, there are lots of reasons, said the magazine writer, that indicate those three words lead to doom and doom is bad.

Why do we need to contemplate the perplexing who says “I love you” first situation? Well, according to the article you apparently don’t want to say it and not have it said back because it can be awkward. There’s also the issue of “I love you too” when its said too fast after your declaration of love. They say this can be bad because the fast "I love you too" can indicate panic from the other person. Panic is akin to doom, it seems. To counter this it appears you have to wait for the perfect “I love you” moment and even if this serendipitous moment does occurs, you can’t be sure that the object of your affection loves you back because apparently they could just be trying to make you happy by saying what they think you want to hear. See above. The after the fact “I love you” is a minefield that must be negotiated carefully due to the need to please factor.

If by now, you’re still thinking – “Bugger it, I still want to say  ‘I love you’" to someone, I say go for it you crazy fool you but remember there’s the theory you’re not to say it until you’ve been on 5 dates and then it’s better for the man to say it first because…well, I’m not sure. The article just reckons its better that way as it gives the man the edge and feeling of control. But I gotta say if he says it and she doesn’t or she runs screaming away then I’m thinking there’s not a lot of control going on there.

Then there’s always the right way to say “I love you” apparently. You have to create ‘a moment’ and never ever say it when you’re drunk. Yep, I’d have to go along with this because drunks love everyone and sincerity isn’t their strong point. You should also never apologise for saying "I love you" even when he or she doesn’t love you back. I think you’re supposed to smile, be all stoic like and make light of pouring out your deepest feelings and pretend your heart isn’t  stomped on by an uncaring sod as you go off to get stinking drunk enough to say “I love you” to complete strangers who will smile and pity you but it doesn't matter because you won’t remember saying those three words to them. And for god sake, if you do say those possibly three doom ridden words, the article says don’t answer for the other person. I’m not sure how that goes unless Bob says, “I love you, Mary and I know you love me so it’s a done deal. You’re in this for life with me so don’t even think of arguing with me because no man will ever love you as I do.” In this case I would say step away from Bob, no matter how much he loves you. Bob is a problem.

All in all, my personal opinion is it’s probably best if you just slug someone in the arm and forgo the ‘I love you’ thing. I’ve said those words and I’ve done the slugging someone in the arm thing. Go with the arm.

All things taipan...

So, I bought season tickets for the Cairns Taipans home games in Cairns. Why? I don't understand basketball at all but I like the whole tribal atmosphere of a stadium of people supporting the home team.

Who are the Cairns Taipans? Click here –       http://www.taipans.com/

What is a Taipan? It’s a local snake that will kill you dead. Click here -

Margaret cheered at the top of her lungs as the Taipans scored another goal. They were at the Cairns Convention Centre, known to the locals as the Snake Pit. Her team, the Taipans, named after the deadliest snake in the world, came from the Cairns area, hence the name of the basketball venue. She and Kath were sitting amidst a sea of orange clad Taipan supporters. They outnumbered the visiting Townsville Crocs fans twenty to one.
Margaret loved the tribal atmosphere of the Snake Pit. She wasn’t a huge fan of the game as she didn’t really understand it, but she did support the home team. That was all that mattered. She looked around, waving at a few people she knew. It seemed that most of Cairns were there tonight.
“Well fuck,” Margaret muttered when she saw the blond man several rows down from where they sat.
“What?”
“That dickhead from the taxi rank is here.”
“Where?”
Margaret pointed him out, hoping he wouldn’t turn and see her. It was unlikely. He was sitting beside a very pretty looking blond. Typical.
Kath looked impressed. “Wow! He’s gorgeous! Oh hey, he’s looking over.” She waved at him.
Margaret grabbed her friend’s hand. “Don’t do that. He’s the enemy.”
“Right. Sorry. I forgot we hate him.”
“No, we don’t hate him. We just dislike him a lot.”

Never Ever...out now...

The Blurb...

As far as Margaret is concerned, Daniel’s the last man she wants.  He’s pushy, opinionated and impossible to deal with. In fact, he’s exactly like her. That’s why she’s never ever going to get involved with him. It would be madness.

Daniel’s not about to be put off by attitude. He’s more than happy to challenge Margaret and her preconceptions about what she thinks men want from women. Like forces do attract and it’s time for Margaret to open her eyes to the possibilities.

The Excerpt...

“I think not.” Daniel’s gaze never left hers. “Take your clothes off, Maggie.”
She licked her lips, savoring the taste of the man. “I don’t want to.” If a kiss had completely undone her, god knows what sex would do.
“Why not?” His hands slid down to her ass.
Oh yeah. That felt good.  Margaret could feel the thrust of cock fighting the denim of his jeans. “Because, er,— just because.” This man didn’t need to know her feelings. That would cut too close to the bone.
“So you haven’t got the perfect body.” Daniel shrugged. “I know that.”
“Wow you’re quite the smooth talker.” And yet Margaret liked that. This man wasn’t into pretense to get what he wanted. He wanted to fuck her. It was up to her whether she let him.
“Shut up and strip.” Daniel let go of her and started to take his clothes off.
Margaret’s eyes were wide with shock. Him. Naked. “Don’t do that.”
His shirt hit the floor. “Why not?” Daniel asked as he kicked off his boots.
“Because—”
“It’ll make it too real?” His hand pulled at the zipper of his jeans.
Her eyes were fixed on his hand. Margaret wanted him to stop yet she wanted to see. It had been so long since she had seen a man’s dick. “There’s nothing real between us. This is just a challenge for you.” She gulped at the pink swollen head that pointed in her direction. The need to reach forward and lick it slammed into her mind.
“I dare you to get naked and prove to me you have some guts and are not some wishy-washy woman with hang ups.” His jeans hit the floor.
Call me wishy-washy? That was not something that Margaret would allow. “You’re a complete bastard.” She yanked off her Taipans shirt and threw it in his face.

The smell of her perfume made Daniel’s cock jump. The sight of her lace covered breasts had him flinging the shirt away from him so his hands were free to touch. When her bra smacked him in the face, he was momentarily blinded by lace. He pushed it away, his eyes taking in the full, pink tipped breasts that bounced as she angrily yanked down her jeans. As she stumbled, her feet caught in the material, Daniel couldn’t remember a more exciting woman. “You should have taken your sandals off first.”
“Shut up!” She bent down and unbuckled them.
The sway of her breasts had him mesmerized. Daniel wanted to suck them until she begged him to fuck her.
Once fully naked, Margaret stood before him, hands on her hips in defiance. “There. Done. Happy?”
Daniel wanted to smile and pull her into his arms and make her feel safe and happy but Margaret was a hard case. They had to be treated differently as they expected no pity and needed to be an equal.
“You have a fat ass.” He knew that’s what she expected to hear.
“Get stuffed.”
“Oh, I will be stuffing you with dick very soon.” Daniel was barely holding on. Some women drove a man mad with lust and any illusions of control were shot. Margaret was one of them.
She tilted her head and looked at the dick in question. “It’s pretty small. I doubt I’ll feel it.”
“Well, you have huge boobs. I like small ones,” Daniel retorted. It was a lie. He couldn’t wait to touch them.
“You’re skinny.” Margaret crossed her arms over her chest.
Don’t do that. I want to see. “You’re chunky.”
“Can you turn around? I want to see how far that stick is up your ass.”
She said it so politely that he wanted to laugh. This was fun. Maggie was fun. “You’re a bitch.”
Margaret smiled “Why, thank you.”
“It wasn’t a compliment, Maggie.”
She snorted. “Like I’d expect one from you.”
Daniel crooked his finger at her. “Come here.”
“No, you come to me.”
