Crazy, wild, fish wrap…

I was gripped with this mad need today to fling caution to the wind and do something crazy and out of control this weekend because I really want to and it’s my birthday next week. So, I banged away on the computer keys looking for wild things to do from a night of luxury in a fantastic resort, to hooking up with an unknown man for a night of orgasmic sex to jumping on the next boat north to swim naked then drink gin on the deck of a nefarious pirate ship. The best I can do right now at this moment? Being the inventor of a fish wrap at Bruce’s fine food emporium in the heart of blue collar worker world.

But, I haven’t given up on luxury, wild sex or drinking gin…something will come to me and hopefully it won’t be fish…

Zen simplicity...

So a couple of months ago I saw a Buddhist monk walking along the side of the road about 5 minutes from where I lived. It was an unusual sight in the middle of a rainforest valley. He looked like he should have been walking in Tibet. I thought I was dreaming it so I doubled back in the car and went to have another look. He had disappeared. Huh. I conceded I was mad and went on my way. Mad is ok. It’s works for me. You have less to explain when you’re nuts. Today, I saw the monk again. He was stoically trotting along in his robes and sandals with an umbrella in hand. I waved at him. He waved back. I drove on thinking to myself that it’s nice, that despite his calling, he is realistic enough to not expect the God he worshipped to protect him from rain. Would that all religion were so simple.

Not so dumb it seems…

Okay so just recently I suddenly threw caution to the wind, kicked common sense in the gizzards and pitched all practicality out the window (yes, sounds exhausting) and made a major, wild and some may some dumb arsed lifestyle change with no safety nets to soften inevitable falls. And you know what those close to me think? It’s a fantastic idea – and go for it – and if anyone can do this you can Amarinda. Am I lucky or what to have people who get me...or maybe they're as mad as I am? Hmmm....

Crazy....

Do you think some people are genetically inclined, more than others, to have crazy thrust upon them or is crazy a random occurrence in our lives? And can you fight it or just surrender to the madness?

What drugs are these people on?

I had this moment today when it occurred to me that I was the sanest person amongst all those I was dealing with. Scary stuff when I’m being sensible and no one else is. The world has gone mad – mad I tell you – MAD!!

Sanity is a madness put to good use.” ~ George Santayana

Most confusing grasshopper…

…I have no idea what happened yesterday at work…it was the most frustrating day and I think it’s all my fault. I believe I was speaking in another language and understandably people reacted accordingly. For instance I said things like, “how much did you bank today” and the response was something like “antelopes chewed on my petunias while I ate crumpets for tea.” Or I said “put it down there please” and the comeback was given “never wear a watermelon as a hat or your feet will swell.” Riiight…okay…or at least that’s what it sounded like to me and no, I wasn’t on drugs but maybe I should have been. I did escape to the cafĂ© several times for coffee and at one stage when I went to the bank on company business I was tempted to stay there for the rest of the day as it was so peaceful. It would have been okay too as I’m mates with the tellers and they wouldn’t have ratted me out. At the end of the day I walked to Patrick, my car, got inside, locked the door and sped the hell out of the car park.

Sigh…I have to go back to work today…they’re all mad there I tell you…quite mad.
