Can you say penis?
Today, we had a heavy work training session on medical terminology and joy, oh frigging joy, there will be an exam on it. Anyway, during the training the trainer, in all seriousness, said 'Does anyone have a problem with saying penis or vagina?' The woman beside me replied, without thinking ' I love penis.' Of course, we all laughed. What she meant was she loved the word penis. I don't know why. But then I like the word pukeable. And, no none of us had problems with wordage of said penis and said vagina. Apparently, people do. I recall a writer, years ago, haven't heard much of her on the writing scene probably also for the same amount of years, went on a rant on her blog at the time about writers who called vaginas, well, vaginas. Why she was ranting? No idea. To my mind, body parts are just that. There is no mystery any more. Things just are.

Hmmmm....
So I'm away from hom on training. As per ususal I've been walking the local area taking a squiz at things all in the name of exercise and being a sticky beak. Why the photo of the paving? Two reasons - one, you know you are a renovator at heart when you say to yourself, "If only I have a spade and a bucket of sand I could fix that." Two - you know you're a writer when you look at those cracks and a story comes instantly to mind.
Travel - broadens the mind, however in the end you are who you are at heart.

Make a writer less whiny. Buy their book...
So, the TV set is focaccia’d and off being repaired, under
warranty, at the repairer dude’s place. “Fixed at the end of the week, mate,” he
said. I replied, “No worries.” We’re simple souls in Aussie-land. Anyway, I
took my simple-soul-self home and went to turn on the TV to watch the news and –
oh hey – no TV. I’m smart like that. A big empty space is dead giveaway
something’s missing – and if not that, the fact there's no button to press is
the second clue. Yep, intelligence plus R US.
Well then, I decided there’s only one solution. Read a book.
I’ve got dozens and fortunately, if not for a lot of plane travel this year, I
would have not read any. So, I settled into book 10 of the Anita Blake Vampire
Hunter series. I don’t get her problem. If it was me I would pick Jean Claude,
the dark, sexy vampire over the sensitive, soulful werewolf Richard. Seriously,
get with the Vamp, Anita. Yeah, he’s technically dead but no one’s
perfect.

The writer, the ex-spy, the innocent grandma and the sexpot...
So, I got author Anny Cook to read over a story of mine. One of her comments made me raise an eyebrow and shake my head. Only she would know stuff like rock salt bullets 'are available for shot guns'. I have always believed she was ex-CIA. She knows too much and only says just enough to make you wonder. Go check her out - www.annycook.com

Walk of Shame...
So, I was chatting to a friend on email about the walk of shame. What is that? Well, for a woman it’s when you have sex with a man and you then go home very late at night or the next day by yourself having re-dressed in the same clothes you started the day with. There are more interpretations but that is essentially what it is. It’s also an indication of liberation and freedom that women can have sex and find their way home very nicely by themselves, feeling shagged yet good. Have I done it? Yes, but I felt no shame in it. I do what I do because I can. Hence the reason why we were talking about it on email. The writer, who I was chatting to, asked me ‘can I put that the heroine did the walk of shame? How will other women react to that? Will she come across as a slut?' My answers? Yes. Who knows. And slut is a subjective term.
Firstly, you can write about anything you like. It’s your
story. Look at Fifty Shades of Gray. Did that writer think ‘oh gee, maybe I
shouldn’t?’ To my mind if you have no guts, you shouldn’t be a writer. Not
every will love what you write so don’t expect them to. As for how other women
react to a woman having a ‘very nice time’ and going home? That will swing from
remembering when to jealousy. The slut thing? See above. It’s subjective.
Walk of shame? No shame in doing what you want.
