Weird thing the universe…

That past year has been bloody hard. It’s been all about endings, stopping, starting, fighting, standing up for honour and another’s reputation regardless of personal cost – and it’s been about Karma. I’ve found every time I inch forward I’ve been shunted hard backwards or slammed to a stop and directed on another path to blunder along with no map to follow. Jobs have fallen through but then I’ve been so busy fighting for someone else that I realize I wouldn’t have had time to work at a job. Information has dropped into my lap just when I thought my research had run dry. Lies and half truths have been put forward and the universe has shoved them into my face to investigate and realize the fabrications put before me can be defeated and that I will win for the right reasons.

I don’t mind dealing with Karma. I understand the universe – but I swear, once all this is over I just want a couple of weeks without drama. Do you hear me universe? And Karma? Love ya, but back off.

Karma...

I’ve been thinking a lot about greed and the rampant sense of entitlement people have when someone passes away. There are those who immediately approach you with their hand out for what they believe is their share. They hound, badger and demand what they believe is their due even though they never did a damn thing for the person in life other than to ask them for money. Then there are those who stand beside you, in sad remembrance, who offer their hand to help, not expecting anything and are stunned when they’re given a gift. They often think it’s a mistake but it never is because good people give without thinking of benefit and are rewarded in kind.

It all comes down to karma doesn’t it? What you think you’re due karma will hand you, often in spades.

What goes around...

My brother, who I have not seen in 13 years called me today. It wasn't pleasant. My thoughts on this are....

1. You can't pick your relatives.

2. Forget nothing from your childhood.

3. Rise above those who try to bring you down.

4. Don't even consider giving up a kidney for someone who would punch you in the other one.

6. Karma is a bitch.

Karma....

In 2008, I had a choice to take a job with the cops – admin type stuff though I would have been good at enforcing stuff – or work at a company that made windows and doors – accounts stuff. I didn’t start out in accounts. I muscled my way into that – and that’s another story - but I took that job with that company due to the fact that the job with the cops was being handled by an agency and they couldn’t work out a start date and I’m not one to wait around while others stuff around. That one decision changed my life in phenomenal ways. I’m a great believer in karma…in fate. We are thrown into often competing paths of action and one draws us more than the other. At the time we can’t think why. If not for choosing the job I did and subsequently end up in Cairns after chatting to crazy Cairn-ites, I would probably still be in Brisbane hating the traffic, the city and searching for whatever the hell I was searching for. It would be terrible to think of not knowing the people I know now.

Maybe karma can be considered a bitch. I consider it a saviour. I cannot wait to see what else happens in my life…

This day last year...

…I had just farewelled the movers as they departed with my worldly goods and Patrick, my stoic car, and I were set to hit the road to Cairns that was a bazillion miles away. Patrick was packed to the gills, I had a map, no job to go to and no home to settle in. I was taking a humungous leap of faith leaving the familiar for nothing and the unfamiliar. But that’s the beauty of doing stuff like that. Everyone needs a huge karmic shift in their life so they re-evaluate what they want and where they need to be. Me? I done good. I have an excellent house, have had several jobs since moving up here, aquired two militant budgies and I have met and made friends. Life is what you make it. Change? I like it.

Just stuff…

This morning I ran smack bang into the sofa that was in the middle of the hallway. After that the upright leg of the table stabbed me in the thigh and I tripped over one box stacked upon another. Now, a smart woman would have turned the lights on when she woke up. A smart woman wouldn’t have created the obstacle course from hell in her house the night before. I never said I was smart. It’s all more about having things in such a way that two blokes can walk in and pick them up without creating chaos. Men are amazing souls but they’re messy and clumsy and I find if you set things out as easy as possible they can follow a task without hassle. Hence the chaos of my house this morning. I am donating a lot of stuff to charity. Yes, I could sell it for a pittance and have some other bugger profit hugely from it or donate it to charity and let them make money. Karmicly – not a word but it should be - I know which is the better option.

This arvo when I got hom from work I looked at the places stuff had been – and it was just stuff. Nothing I got rid of was important or of sentimental value – and it makes me even more hopeful and forward thinking into my future. Sometimes you have to let go to move on to where you’re supposed to be.
* thanks Mav for the picture...it still makes me smile.
