Buck it...

So, there is always drama in romance writing land. Porn versus romance. This writer hates that writer. Help me, but I won’t help you. Crap editors. Horrible covers from cover artists who think all women are stick thin.  And then there are the Publishers.  This comment, about the crapacious and unprofessional Noble Romance Publishing, was on the Karen Knows Best blog and it pretty much sums up the ebook industry and the half arsed publishers in it.

"I'm throwing up my hands with most publishers at this point."

Yes. Exactly. Probably why self pubbing is so popular. You don’t have to deal with dishonest publishers. There are a lot of them around and it’s not until you actually get screwed over by one that you learn the lesson. But can you go it alone? Of course. Will you? Doubt it. There’s a lot of scared writers out there worried about bucking the system. Buck it I say. The system only changes if you challenge it.

I do. I say. I believe. I am.

So, I received an email that had the phrase of  ‘If I insisted…’ then they would fix something that was pukeably not right. Now, I’m not a wishy-washy person. If I send you an email about your crapaciousness and that I want it fixed then that should tell you where I stand. I don’t mince my words if I perceive injustice, inequality or bollocks. I’m no different in person to what I am in writing. I’m annoying, persistent and determined. And if I insist? Damn straight I insist. That I or anyone else has to deal with half-arsed people who cannot do the job right the first time, then maybe this isn’t the dimension for them and they need to go to half-arsed land where no one gives a crap and a quarter good enough is okay and no one minds being screwed over because they're half arsed as well.

I’m a very black and white person. I do. I say. I believe. I am.

Seeing double…

Someone said to me ‘did you notice a lot of the Ellora’s Cave covers were starting to look alike?’ I hadn’t because it’s no longer a site I’m interested in but I went and took a squiz and these – OMG – made me laugh my arse off. Starting to look alike? Well ya…the thing is – yes, everyone knows that pictures and models get re-used but in the same month? Screams slap-dash-let’s-throw-it-together-and-hope-for-the-best. Good luck with that EC.
