and the saga continues...

When we left the Emmeline, peeler, twin, virgin saga yesterday everyone seemed to be dying or having stuff sucked out of them...now please read on...

“No one is dying today,” Emmeline declared defiantly as she aimed her peeler at the virgin assassin.

Rinalda’s hand shook uncontrollably and the peeler flew from her fingers and smashed into pieces against a rock. She watched as Emmeline then aimed her peeler at the twins.
“What’s going on?” She could see Rafe and Shade regaining their strength under a beam of pure white healing light.

“Well virgin, a three-point-two peeler is good but you should have saved up your pennies and bought the four-point-six series with the chromium auto reverse thrusters and laser light regenerative restorer. It beats your piece of crap peeler hands down.

“You bitch! They’re not even on the market yet.” Rinalda cursed wildly as she stared at Emmeline’s peel. “Is that a jewel handle?”

“Yes it comes in diamonds or rubies for accessorizing – not that it’s going to do you any good sunshine. These are only available to the chosen few.” She looked at Rafe and Shade. They had recovered quickly. Just as well. Although they were the weaker sex, any help was better than none. “Tie her up.” This was not over by a long shot. Emmeline knew she had to take charge of this situation now. “You are right about one thing Shade, we need to find the Companion and stop this madness. If the prophecy comes true no man will be safe.”

“Bugger! “ Eleanor the Elder hissed. As she watched from behind the bushes. “I thought Rinalda had the twins under her control there for a moment.”

“She is not up to the task of dealing with Emmeline. So few Guardians are. The pure of heart always make too many mistakes.”

“Oh well we’ll have to kill her like the last one. Summon the next virgin.”

Gee...let's hope they can find a virgin. To see if they do, check out www.annycook.blogspot.com and see what Anny does with our peeler crew tomorrow. Then on Thursday take a squiz at www.kellykirch.blogspot.com to see where Grasshopper goes with it next.

When I got home this evening, I raced outside to look at the new cement slab for my rainwater tank. It is grey and large and well, cement-like but it was one step closer to getting the actual rain water tank. The cement was still wet so naturally I had to put my initials in it as you are supposed to…okay, you are not supposed to but it’s that whole wanting to immortalize the moment thing. Not that doing that is always such a good thing. There is a patch of cement on the footpath about a block from my house where some Rhodes scholar had written F**k you in the cement when it was wet and it has been set in place for all eternity. What possesses someone to even think that is the slightest bit creative? And why would you want to immortalize your own stupidity? What statement were they making other than they were ill-bred and not particularly bright? Every time I pass it I think what a dipstick.

When I moved into my house years ago the area was a little rough. But the house was cheap and I could see the potential in the area and thankfully I was right. The suburb has come along way and people want to buy in but can’t as no ones moving and the prices are too steep. Ca-ching. Sometimes you get it right. Anyway, the first morning in my house, after I moved in, I woke up to find my father standing outside looking at the street. He motioned me over to see someone had spray painted “I rock” on the bitumen before my driveway. He was concerned as fathers are. I pointed out to him that at least it said “I rock” and not “I suck”. I ignored it and it never happened again. I also ignored the noisy, feral ‘boys’ across the way that hated the previous people in my house and gave them a hard time apparently. They tried it on with me a couple of times and failed as I had no intention of rising to their bait so they gave up. They are very quiet and respectful now and when I approach them politely to move their truck or whatever they do it straight away. I believe you do not need to act in kind to beat a bully. Confuse them politely is my theory.

Because I Can – what happens in an elevator stays in an elevator…or does it?

Can having wild sex in a lift with a gorgeous stranger a bad thing? It is when that man turns out to be the CEO of the company you work for and he is the last man you want having any control over you. Being all hot naked and sexy with the CEO is not exactly a career move – especially not in public, screaming your lungs out as you come.

When Justin Hale teaches Miranda Marshall a steamy lesson about who is the boss, Miranda is more than happy to pay him back in kind. The game is on. Just how in control is the boss? Can she bring him to his knees without falling hopelessly to her own? After all, this has nothing to do with love. It’s just toe curling sex…isn’t it? And Miranda certainly does not want the whole office to know what she and Justin Hale are doing.

But someone does know. It’s the same person who has been causing chaos in the office for months. Is this person the office Robin Hood or are they out for revenge with Miranda in his sights?

Time please...

I had a crisis this morning. It was terrible. I felt sick and concerned and I was wondering how the hell I would get through the day – and a Monday to boot. I told myself to be calm, to be rational and that I would get through this. I mean I had lost it before and I had always found it. I would find it again. So what if I went through the whole day without it? I am strong. I can cope. It’s just a watch for god sake. A watch you ask? That’s what you went into a tizz about? Well yes. If you are a chronic clock watcher it’s a bloody big deal.

To be honest though, I never look at the clock at home – only at work – and no guesses why there. I am one of these people who always goes to breaks, lunch and home on time. I don’t understand how at knock off time people are still working. What is that about? Oh sure I understand the concept of dedication but what is the point of still working when it’s quitting time? It’s not like any medals are going to be handed out for meritorious service for staying back late. When I used to sit beside my other good friend, let’s call her Katie, come 2:15pm it was knock off time for her. It was understood that if you got in Katie’s way she would kill you as no one stopped her from going on home on time. I understood this dedication. Katie was, and is, not a woman you mess with. She also had a preference for parking over several car spots instead of the normal one so "no bastard would scratch her car." Few challenged her parking skills and lived to tell the tale. Ah, I miss working with dedicated people such as Katie. Like Katie, my theory is when the dance is over- go home. No one's last dying breath was “gee I wish I stayed at work later.” Be like Citizen Kane and say something cryptic like Rosebud and confuse the hell out of the people who love you.

So, I found my watch and went to work. When I got in I was asked to choose what colour business card I wanted. What the hell do I need with a business card? Who am I going to give it to? Skippy, my assistant, is pissed because she is not getting a business card. Why I don’t know. It’s not like it’s a status symbol. Is it? Anyway I chose a wild crimson coloured business card while everyone else chose blue. I figure I have no idea what I am going to do with them so they may as well look amazing anyway.

Dear Amarinda, this is your horoscope for Monday, August 6th:
Scorpio,Today you’ll feel the need to run away from daily routine; you may decide to put in order that pile of paperwork you’ve been ignoring. In the Love sphere, if you're single, look around you because what you are looking for may be closer than you imagine.

Translation -
-Today you’ll feel the need to run away from daily routine – do not go to work. Stay at home and finish the latest book and eat popcorn instead of healthy fruit.
- you may decide to put in order that pile of paperwork you’ve been ignoring – do the tax that is piled up on your kitchen table or not – depending on mood. This one needs a degree of interpretation and can be only considered after a bowl of popcorn.
- In the Love sphere, if you're single, look around you because what you are looking for may be closer than you imagine – this is not going to happen I am PMS’ing and no man deserves that fate and if he is that close he will know that. Switch immediately from popcorn to chocolate as it is a dependable true love.

Did you read Anny’s take on our Emmeline, peeler, twin, virgin saga? No? Did you lose your watch and was too stressed to think about it? That’s okay, I understand. Go immediately now to
www.annycook.blogspot.com. Anny in her infinite wisdom has the entire series – in case you have missed an episode on her website – www.annycook.com. It is Kelly’s turn now so once you catch up with Anny – rush over to www.kellykirch.blogspot.com to see what she has landed me in this time when I take up the challenge on Tuesday.

Lust in Time – released August 27th through Total-E-Bound books…it’s about lust, time travel and a woman that just wants to go home to the 21st Century or does she?
When Arabella Smith wakes up on the floor of a strange house in 1888 she is gob-smacked.

When the shock of waking up back in time wears off and she meets the original owner of the book in her hand—the book that she suspects is the reason why she is no longer in the 21st century—Arabella begins to believe it is her mission to help Amy Louisa and then get back to the mod cons of 2008 as soon as possible.

However Garrett Robillard has other plans for Arabella. He knows why she is in 1888 and it has everything to do with him. Arabella is the mystery lover he has been dreaming about for the last three weeks. She is the woman for him. Garrett just needs to convince her of that.

Arabella’s plan was not to fall in love and have hot sex with Garrett especially as she knows time is fickle and she can be thrown back into the future without warning. But what can a girl do when she is faced with the man of her dreams and the past is really her future?

The ghosts amongst us...

Ghosts? What are they? I’m not sure either but for the last couple of days I have been writing two books – one about an older woman and a younger man and what they get up to - you know – playing cards, watching television and, oh yes, toe curling, hot sweaty sex. Okay they didn’t play cards but toes were curled amongst over things. And the other book is about hot sex with a ghost. A what you say? How is that even possible? You’ll have to read the book when it comes out to find out how.

To believe or not believe in ghosts is up to the individual. I personally think there is a lot of weird arsed stuff out there so I tend to think what the hey – ghosts are no sillier then fad diets, toy dogs in handbags or the media obsession with celebrities. I have had two ghost experiences in my life. The first one I have mentioned before. It is the basis for my Halloween Quickie called Maid for Death – strangely enough coming out at Halloween – spooky that. It was when I was working as a chambermaid in a hotel in London. You get to see some wild things doing that gig. Anyway there was this one room that gave me cold chills whenever I went into it. I discovered later that at man had died in that room years ago and no one had been aware of it for days. No, the cleaning service wasn’t that bad. The Do Not Disturb sign is best thing a chambermaid can see on a door knob as it means you can haul arse to the next room and finish the day earlier. That man was never disturbed again.

The second ghost experience was when I was driving along a highway. There had been a major car accident only weeks earlier near a small town I passed through. The grass was all burnt and wreaths still lay over the spot the people died on. No one was on the roads as it was very early morning. I could see clearly behind and clearly in front of me. As I passed by the accident, a car suddenly appeared behind me. It startled me but I figured they must have pulled off a side road but I could not think which one. The car was a matt grey colour, almost as if all the paint had been burnt off it. It followed me for a while and I watched it thinking this was all very Twilight Zone and then suddenly as I looked in the rear view mirror it disappeared before my eyes. Again there was no turn off for a car to go. Every time I pass that spot I look for that car. I never saw it again.

But there are other ghosts as well. You know when you see someone you used to know really well and for one moment you feel the same chemistry you once had but then those feelings are gone in a flash? Or when you hear a song and you get all pathetic thinking about the one that you let go out of your life? I think of them as living ghost moments. Or, I read once, that the sudden dimming of a light indicates a ghost is present. When this happens at my house I always say Hello as I read somewhere you should talk to a ghost if you see one. No one as yet has piped up and said hello back yet but you never know. Would I have a heart attack if a ghostly voice said Gidday Amarinda. I’m not sure. I do know I would probably break open my emergency bottle of chocolate liqueur and take a big swig to steady my nerves. And before you wonder, no, I am not some hippy-new age-dawning of Aquarius person. I am just opened minded. I read this good quote once. I can’t remember who said it but it was something along the lines off…To believe in superstition or the unknown is crazy and irrational but what does it hurt to knock on wood? I’m just knocking on wood.

Ethel, one of best friends, and no, not her real name, rang moments ago and reminded me of all the lies I have to say when I am rung for a reference check on her tomorrow. I was offended. As if I needed reminding on how to lie or as we like to call it embroider a truth that could be possible. Anyway I do quite a bit of skillful embroidery for Ethel as she does for me. I have two good friends that at the drop of a hat will tell the most outrageously believable lies to say my arse. That’s friendship – and I return the favour. Ethel and I have this game when it comes to reference checks. At the end of the check we will say “And please pass on my best wishes to Ethel/Amarinda as I really admire her.” Yes it is a load of crap but we like to see which referees ring back and pass on the ‘best wishes’. I am winning so far as I am far more charming than Ethel in getting people to believe I control multi-national companies and saying things like "I say this with all sincerity if I had my own business I would employ Ethel tomorrow.” Do I feel bad? No, because reference checks for jobs rarely mean anything. It’s mainly just a check to see the referee agrees with the prospective employers own opinion.

Now – did you check
www.annycook.blogspot.com? If not get over there immediately and read Anny’s outrageous take on out Emmeline, twin, peeler, virgin saga. Then on Monday morning on www.kellykirch.blogsplot.com when Grasshopper adds her own mad spin to the tale. Thankfully I am the sane one. Shut up I am.
Swift of Heart - out now -it's all about love, honour, dimensions and chocolate.
When Stephanie Hart opens her front door to find long lost love Mackinley Swift on her doorstep so many thoughts rush through her mind. Anger, love and an overwhelming urge to slap him then eat a chocolate bar. Here is the man who taught her to love, to want and to need then he walked out on her without a word. Now Mac’s back, a year later, telling her he’s been away fighting a war in another dimension. Yeah, right, whatever. Stephanie is simply not that stupid.

Mac knows he has the fight of his life on his hands to convince the woman he loves that he had no choice when duty called him back to fight a war against his country’s old enemy. He did not want to go. Duty to his country called him home. But love has brought him back to Stephanie Hart. How hard could it be to convince her that they are meant to be together?

However an old enemy is watching the lover’s reunion. He hates Mackinley Swift for killing his brother. He has every intention of making him suffer. The woman Swift loves is the means to do it. Hurt the woman, hurt the man.

Ah Saturday...

You know the scene in a sitcom when too much washing power is put into a washing machine by mistake and you wonder is it really possible to be that stupid and would all those bubbles really come out of the machine like that? The answer is yes.

Here’s the thing. Everyone knows Saturday is busy right? I was running around like a mad chook doing boring stuff like cleaning and laundry while jumping online for a chat with some authors and readers. Gidday, to you all by the way. Anyway I dashed down stairs to the laundry at one stage and threw clothes into the washing machine. In my haste I managed to knock the carton of washing powder (maybe you call it laundry detergent?) into the machine with powder going everywhere. Maybe I swore a bit or alot - it's all subjective. Anyway I looked into the machine and decided in my infinite wisdom – nah, it will be alright. There’s not that much powder in there. After the chat finished, I wandered back down stairs to hang out the washing. Yep, you guessed it, frigging soap bubbles everywhere. The floor of the laundry was a winter wonderland. Again maybe some swearing issued from my sweet lips but I believe everyone should have a second language. But cultural diversity aside, I did not have time for this. I stamped my dainty flat feet several times as I am wont to do. I don’t know why I do this as it never does much to help the situation and it is not like magical pixies come and solve my problems. Elves turn up but they are not as good. So I set to and cleaned up the bubbles. Yes, the laundry area is now sparkling clean but I wasted nearly an hour because I was in a careless rush. Moral of the story? Well there is none other than to say everyone, no matter who they are, is time strapped. So next time you say to someone I am busy or use that as some half arsed excuse as to why you have not done something, remember everyone is in the same boat - the busy excuse is not going to fly.

I get the cement slab for my water tank on Tuesday. Yes, terribly exciting for me. Boring as all get out for you. But getting the slab is one step closer to having the rain water tank and once I have that I know the heavens will open up and it will rain and break this bloody drought. I have faith. I also have been waiting since April for this bloody tank. They are as scarce as hen’s teeth. People have been nicking them and selling them for ridiculous profits. I love money. Truly I do. But I do no believe in stealing to get it. On the news the other day someone stole a disabled lady's motorised scooter. She had no other way to get around because some selfish, scumbags took it. Why are we breeding people like this of have no respect for others? I have any two words to these selfish sods. Karmic Wheel. It will swing around and knock you flat on your arse and you will have no one to turn to and I will happily say I told you so.

Results of the last quiz – You are trapped in the lift with a gorgeous man. You all gave the answer I wanted to hear (I am sure some of you only did it for suck up value) -which was hope he had read chapter 2 of Because I Can. You are all incredibly intelligent but you know that. However there was one joker who said she/he would hum to the elevator music. Excellent. I love quirky people. Not sure how I feel about hummers, though there was this persistent happy whistling man when I was grocery shopping the other night. That was a tad annoying and I was forced to buy chocolate due to the stress of listening to his merry tune. In cases like this everyone knows the calories do not count.
Remember to catch up with the latest Emmeline, twins, peeler blog serial news with Anny on www.annycook.blogspot.com. I will admit I have had a sneak preview and Kelly has her work cut out for her when she delivers her instalment on Monday – www.kellykirch.blogspot.com. As you know the serial rests on Sunday as our brains hurt from thinking.

Thief of Mine - out now...go on the run with a thief.
It's not unusual for the bride to have sex on her wedding day. But when the bride is begging for another man to take her hard and fast in front of a startled bridesmaid, that's unusual. Not that Stella Rowallan wanted to watch. She walked in on it and now she can't walk out. The man taking the bride is bad, wild and hot. Stella knows she should be appalled. But she's not. She wants him. What is it with bad boys that make them so damn good?
But all bad boys have a past and Kit Kincaid is no different. He is a self-confessed thief who likes to have sex in wild, daring places. And Stella Rowallan is just his type of woman — shockable, yet willing. But he has a problem. A freaky witch woman and her followers are chasing him for a stolen stone idol. Kit has it and he plans to sell it. Can he have both Stella and the idol or does something have to give?

Emmeline, the twin, the peeler and the virgin...

Okay, here is my entry in the Emmeline, peeler, twin, zuuker saga…Kelly – www.kellykirch.blogstpot.com and Anny – www.annycook.blogspot.com made me work for this. So here it is…who knows where Anny will take this Saturday. Check it out tomorrow.
“Touch it,” Shade moaned as he started to recover.
“I don’t want to hurt you.” Emmeline’s hand ached to caress him.
“Darlin’ if you don’t use your peeler now I will explode and that will be such a waste for both of us.”

“For god sake use the damn peeler and get it over and done with woman,” hissed the virginal Guardian of Quadro contemptuously as she looked down at the scene before her. She could not believe Emmeline was too dumb to take advantage of a fully function phallax. Virginal she may be, but she had been skilled in the uses of a man and women of Quadro certainly did not cry over men. They had specific uses and once used up they were cast aside. She shook her head in disgust. She had no time for this. She had tracked Rafe this far into the mountains and she could sense he was nearby. She turned away and ran smack bang into a hard, warm body.

“Gotcha.” Rafe pulled the woman tight and close against him, allowing her no chance to escape.
“Damn it let me go.” The virgin struggled wildly in his arms. The reality of a hard male body hot and unyielding against hers was different to the theory she had learned in the temple of Quadro.
“You will pay for touching me without my consent.” She looked him defiantly in the eye trying not to show the fear that suddenly swamped her. “I have been sent to kill you.”
“Part virgin and part assassin – never known a woman that wasn’t.” Rafe’s hands slid to her butt to press her closer to him. He saw the shock in her eyes. “You want to play with peelers? Let’s play.”
I love sitting at work reading personal email. It lightens the work day and you can continue a conversation you had seventeen emails ago and it still makes sense. It’s like an ongoing Seinfeld episode – an email about nothing. A place I used to work at a while ago had a ‘profanity filter’ on its email. That meant every email that came in was checked for swear words. My good friend Ethel, no, not her real name, likes to swear a lot. I swear myself but not to the Gold Medal standard of Ethel. That woman can use so many swear words in one sentence that I am amazed and amused and to be honest I don’t think what she is saying is physically possible anyway. I used to get called up a lot to explain Ethel’s colourful emails that had got caught up in the profanity filter. Yes, management said, they understood that people would send personal emails. They knew that they could not really stop that but the swearing concerned them. Obviously the answer was don’t read them if you get upset as they are only for me. Anyway I basically explained that Ethel had a psychological condition and that I, as a good friend, accepted this and tried to support her as she worked her way through it. And yes, even if that meant dealing with swearing as good friends did that. I added that “I am sure you understand that you stood by your friends no matter what.” This of course confused them as they weren’t sure whether I was taking the piss (Aussie for pulling their leg) or if I really did have a friend with psychological problems. In the end they accepted my sincere full of crap explanation as they did not want to come across as insensitive. When I told Ethel this she enjoyed herself all the more throwing psychological references in with the swearing.

I don’t judge anyone on how they write or speak. Some of the most eloquent sounding speakers in the world talk the biggest load of crap. Its content I try to listen to or read. Is it heartfelt and genuine? So what if it takes someone a couple of minutes to get out a sentence you and I would sprout off in a second. If the words are real that’s all I care about. I used to attend something called a ‘roadshow’ in a previous job I was once in. The CEO would come up to our worksite and call the employees into the auditorium and talk about Promptel (maybe, just maybe this company is known by another name) and how the company was doing. I used to sit and listen to the chinless one and wonder was he aware that he was talking crap and did not care or did he genuinely believe he was making sense? After attending a peer support meeting with on another employee's behalf I realized it was all well crafted crap as he could not handle the meeting at all without a prepared speech…okay, maybe he could not handle me. I can be difficult and maybe a teeny weeny bit manipultive. I know that. Maybe I am a little like my heroine Miranda without the hot CEO. However I believe if you cannot walk the walk then don’t talk the talk.
And Grasshopper...all real women know how to sashay.

A day in the life...

Review of Because I Can

Miranda is one tough, intelligent woman with an attitude. She deals with her business and her life with amazing control. I loved the way she made Justin squirm. Justin is charming and panty-wetting handsome. He is a type of man who can win any woman’s heart. Both characters are equally strong and take turns in shocking each other with daring, thrilling proposals. Their amazing combination steam up the surroundings whenever they collide, be it their office or the parking lot! As the story progressed, their sparring grew and developed into fantastic believable love. There were plenty of hot and passionate scenes to get my pulse racing. You can’t help but get lusty, guilty thoughts about bosses and CEOs after this! Along with writing a thoroughly passionate read, Ms. Jones has researched her setting very nicely. It gives the reader a wholesome glimpse of an Australian office setting and also addresses the problems of female employees in a call center where they have to deal with nasty, hoax calls day in and day out. Office politics, harassment and insatiable desires are very cleverly woven into the plot. It's a quick, fast read that makes you feel good. Though you can figure out the mystery quite easily, it added meaning and depth to the story making the lead pair’s relationship more believable as they work together figuring out the villain who was behind the grotesque happenings. Vivian, Miranda’s friend is a hoot. She is loyal and supports Rand in everything that she does as a true friend. Ms. Jones writes with a fresh voice and exceptional skill. Because I Can is a sizzling, sexy read complete with a prefect epilogue that will make you want to put Ms. Jones and her books on your keeper shelf and never let them go www.justeroticromancereviews.com/

Have you checked out www.kellykirch.blogspot.com for the latest in our Emmeline/peeler/twin epic? I believe Grasshopper could quite possibly be insane. It’s just a theory I am working on. But then if you read yesterday’s episode from Anny on www.annycook.blogspot.com you know where the insanity started. Once again I will have to be the sane-ish one tomorrow when I tackle the question of the bloody phallax and whatever the hell a zuuker is.

A couple of days ago I woke up in the middle of the night with the overwhelming urge to get a new passport. I always follow urges and signs so I got online and filled out the sections on screen with all my info and requested a form to be mailed to me. I got it today. I took out my old passport and looked through it. So many stamps and so many memories. I looked at the photo and laughed. I looked so young, inexperienced and frighteningly normal. Though it was good to see what my real hair colour was as I had kind of forgotten. I was nineteen when I first set off overseas on a working holiday to the UK. I’m a little more experienced now and anything but normal.

I remember wonderful sights like St Basil's Cathedral in Red Square in Moscow, seeing tourists climbing disrespectfully over the statute of the little Mermaid in Denmark, riding an underground train through the salt mines in Austria and drinking at the Million Dollar Cowboy bar in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. Does that still exist? I still have my shocking pink sweatshirt with the cowboy logo on it which I still wear. Travel does broaden the mind and you meet so many crazy, memorable people that I am hoping my urge for a passport means I will be able to do it all again. Maybe track down a few frog friends. And no, you cannot hide Anny or Kelly. As for threats of terrorism...stuff 'em. Like many people. I am not putting my life on hold for a bunch of cowards.

Today at work…oh my god. ...let me have another sip of wine. Whew! My assistant Skippy has long been a problem. It's not just the low demonic wailing and hand banging on the table - that's just part of it. Anyway it was decided to have the ‘talk’ with her before we all started wailing and head banging in tune with her. This went over like a lead balloon. Basically Skippy says she is right and everyone else is wrong and everyone hates her. Uh huh. She also says she does not like me saying scandalous things like “Good Morning” or “Did you have a good weekend” or “Isn’t it cold today?” Yes, what a cow I am stopping to chat and trying to be friendly. She also believes that because no one speaks to her, I have somehow poisoned everyone against her. I ask you if a woman does not want someone saying “hello” to her then what can you say to her? Maybe people are a tad worried to talk to her? Anyway, the big boss and I just exchanged glances of “what the?” and she went off to have a cry and the boss and I discussed what had happened. Bottom line is she was trying to make a power play to get my job. It did not work and it will never work as I have twenty years of rat cunning on her. So Skippy has been officially warned. The thing is I would not have minded if she had of tried to take me on with some sort of style or sense or just a savvy move, but she didn’t . As we all agreed, she is young and has a lot to learn.

I also went to the doctor today for a general check up. My doctor is a hippie love child. Every time I go in I have to pick a card from a deck. No, not a normal deck of cards. These are cards with flowers on them and the card you pick reflects how you are feeling. She also reads a crystal she gets you to hold in your hand. She talks about finding the inner you and the outer you has to apparently wait for the inner bit to sort itself out. It sounds exhausting. She prefers not to prescribe drugs. There are times I must insist upon drugs as in my world I deal with reality and sometimes it requires antibiotics as opposed to having my face painted blue with woad and chanting some spiritual number while in the lotus position. I’m not good with things like that. I can’t do tai chi because it’s too slow for me. I have done all the movements in a minute and a half that everyone else would do in an hour. My doctor says I am complicated. Get the hell out of here. Really? Why do I go to her? Because I like characters. I like anyone not the norm or who is odd. She is a very good doctor, she’s just unusual…but that’s okay. Thank god for unusual people.

The Wednesday Interview

Time for another brilliant author interview. This week it’s Charlene Leatherman and Prophecy of Vithan. I have read some excerpts of this book and I am eagerly waiting for tomorrow when the book is released. Next week is brilliant author Elaine Lowe with her book Scandalous Profession.

Prophecy of Vithan -The Blurb

Morgan had the life she dreamed of all her life. Although still a brothel slave, the king and queen treated her like a free woman, and the prince she was training was like a son to her.
Then everything goes to hell. Morgan is forced into a marriage with a man she can not respect or admire. Her prince is missing and the king and queen are killed. Morgan is blamed for the murder. Morgan’s primary concern is to find Prince Khai.
The only thing slowing Morgan down is the prophecy about her saving the galaxy, remaining a virgin, and that damn electric attraction she feels every time Len touches her.

Len had his orders. The ones everyone knew about and the other ones. Marry his soul-mate and consummate the marriage and determine if his new wife was the original Morgan Taj Zephyrain. The first he looked forward to. The second he preferred to ignore.
Morgan is accused of murdering the king and queen. Prince Khai is missing. Obviously, Morgan Taj Zephyrain is the criminal Len is seeking. It is Len’s job to bring the murderer to justice.

The Interview

1. What about sizzling sex scenes in your book. How hard is it to write sex and make it convincing?

Authors I have associated with tell me that writing sex scenes is fun and easy and so forth. For me, writing sex scenes is extremely difficult. I’m not sure why. I struggle with each scene, even with a kiss. I struggle with the words and with making it convincing. When I knock something off, write without struggling, the scene comes off contrived, strained and comical.

2. Romance and the condom. How hard do you find to slip it in or on when the action is hot between characters?

I avoided the condom issue in Prophecy of Vithan by two methods. First, Morgan is considered sterile. Her condition comes from the alteration she is subjected to as a child. Secondly, Morgan and Len are married, albeit a forced marriage.

Of course, I write about futuristic worlds in other Galaxies so there can always be a solution to the condom that may not be an actual condom.

3. Do you think romance just happens or do you make your characters work for it?

My characters have to fight tooth and nail for their romance. Morgan runs from romance hard and fast until it slams into her. Then the romance is ripped from her and she has to risk everything, her life, her sanity, her freedom to keep the romance in her life.

4. What is it about your hero that makes him irresistible to women?

Len Braxton is a man who has compassion and tenderness and a heart a big as the galaxy. He also has strength of character that gives him the ability to fight against all odds for his love, Morgan. He is handsome and sexy, but what makes him so irresistible is that when he commits to Morgan, nothing in the universe will stop him from protecting her. He will pull heaven down into hell if needs be to keep her in his life.

5. Do you think readers want to escape or do they want to identify with a character?

I think readers do both. I am a reader as well as a writer. I read to escape and it helps when I can identify with a character. Now, that doesn’t mean that every book I read deals with a middle-aged writer. However, the books I read need to have a heroine that can stand on her own two feet. The heroine may have to abide by conventions and in doing so acquiesces to men, but in her heart and attitude she is strong and self-reliant.

I think that readers who want to escape to other worlds and experience strong women in fantastical adventures will enjoy Prophecy of Vithan.

6. What do you think is the most important thing to remember when writing romance?

The most important thing to remember is that you are writing romance. By definition, romance includes love. Yes, physical love is included, but the deep, soul-filling, person-defining love is what romance is made of. The hero may be an alpha-hero or beta or gamma. It doesn’t matter as long as he harbors an ocean deep love for the heroine by the end of the book. The heroine may be a take-no-prisoners kind of gal or may be a fainting violet, but she has to have an all-consuming love, filling her from the tips of her toes to the top of her head, for the hero by the end of the book. I think we all want to have that kind of love in our lives. Whether we read to escape or because we identify with the heroine we all want to be told about that most fantastic love.

7. What are you working on now?

I am working on Stone of Cruento. It is a book that features a not-so-heroic woman who becomes a heroine. She is bitten by a vampire, protected by an ogre, married to a centaur and the fate of two worlds sit on her shoulders.

Thanks for inviting me to the party, Amarinda. I have had a lot of fun with this interview
