I got two really nice reader emails about Male Me. Thank you I appreciate it.
I have a day off tomorrow due to the Ekka - the Queensland Exhibition. What is that? It's a fancy name for a show or a carnival. Wednesday is traditionally people's day at the Ekka so we get the day off. Excellent. Will I be going? No. Why not? Way too expensive and crowded and I have a gazillion things I must do around the house to take it out of the feral state it is in. But the Ekka is very popular. It's the whole country comes to the city type of thing. There will be lots of cows and their various four and two legged cousins. Click here to see the bull that went for a wander down the street in Brisbane. I love the woman with the mobile/cell phone to her ear following it. What’s that about? Anyway there are lots of rides and displays like best cake, needlework etc. 'Bit of useless trivia for you, I once won a best needlework award a hundred years ago at a small country show when I was a teenager. Was I particularly talented at needlework? No, but like most things I have the ability to fluke it if I have to. The last show I actually went to was when my mother was alive. Why did we go? Not real sure. I think it was a matter of just spending time together because time was limited then. The one thing I always remember is going to this so-called 'famous' stall where supposedly 'the world's best' chips (french fries) were sold. People raved - and still rave - about them. They were greasy and soggy - but apparently that's their charm. I can live without that type of charm.
On the whole - stuff all happening at the moment. I did get some blonde streaks in my hair - change from intense red – shocked the hairdresser. And that's about it in my world. I am living vicariously through other people's dramas at the moment So until tomorrow - be safe - be well...and for those of you who read for controversy drop by tomorrow and I'll try to satisfy your need for it....

Short and sweet-ish....

Any state sponsored event that results in a day off is a very good thing. Enjoy your day.
Mr Kennett decided we did not need our Show Day holiday any more. So now people just take a sickie and go anyway.
Helen
I can tell you a lot of people were 'terribly sick' and could not come to work today. Others like best friend Ethel are going to be sick Thursday and Friday for the long weekend....I am saving my sickies for something worthwhile....and you live in the wrong state but you know that
Enjoy your time away from work.
I want to see pics of the blonde streak.
That sounds like our State Fairs. Well any day off is a good day, right? Hope you enjoy your cleaning!
It is good to keep your hairdresser guessing. Have fun (snicker) with the home repairs!
MMm. Needlepoint huh? It's amazing what we can accomplish sometimes. I would sooo suck at that. When I was a sweet young thing, I won first place in a chicken judging contest. I'd never touched a live or dead chicken in my life but I pulled it off. SNORT. Must remember to tell my kids about that one.
Congrats on the dramatic blonde streaks. It's nice to have a change sometimes.
Looks like a fun fair. I've not been to any in a long time for the same reason. Plus crowds annoy me any more.
DD#2 wants to put some color in her hair for her senior year. She's not sure which color yet.
